Every pregnancy is not the same and will progress differently. However, there are certain symptoms that every woman will experience when she first gets pregnant that let them know that their body is changing. Some of the initial signs include: a missed menstrual cycle (for women with consistent cycles), frequent urination, increased appetite, and increased sexual drive.

A home pregnancy test can be purchased to confirm a pregnancy. The test is designed to detect in a woman’s urine a special hormone produced by the developing placenta immediately after fertilization/conception. While the tests are highly accurate if used right, there is a slim chance that the results may not be correct. To confirm the pregnancy, a woman usually needs to see a physician who can confirm with more comprehensive testing.

If it is confirmed that a woman is pregnant, they will need to rest and relax as much as their schedule allows. They will experience many more new things during their nine months of pregnancy, such a some women will become sensitive to certain kinds of food, experience increased tiredness, morning sickness and possibly experience mood swings.

In order to have a healthy baby, women should not smoke or drink during the entire pregnancy. They should drink lots of milk and consume healthy foods such as plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, including food that contains good levels of folic acid. Milk has plenty of calcium and the fruits and vegetables contain lots of nutrients and vitamins. Good prenatal vitamins are a must also.

Of course, a newly pregnant woman will need to start shopping for maternity clothes. As the months go by, the baby will grow and the pregnant belly will grow along with it. Or if they don’t want to wear maternity clothes, then they can opt for oversized shirts and pants that have an elastic waist. In the later months or trimesters, as they are known as, the woman will also have to start looking for items for their child to put in the nursery (which is much easier to do if the parents opt to learn from the doctor if the baby is a boy or a girl).

There are some changes in a pregnant mom that can last through the entire nine months of a woman’s pregnancy, such as mood swings, morning sickness and frequent visits to the bathroom. Some women may not experience these changes the whole time, since every pregnant woman is different.

The closer the delivery date is, the more anxious an expectant mother can be to have the baby. At that point, they usually start to get more excited simply because there will be a new life coming into the world. When the delivery time comes, the contractions and labor can last from a few hours to an entire day.

After the delivery, the new mother will be allowed to rest and get her strength back, because delivering a baby can take a whole lot out of them.
